POSITIVE THINKING
Mind/body medicine focuses on stress and its negative impact our lives. In our medical programs, we use proven, tangible tools such as the elicitation of the relaxation response and other stress management approaches to help relieve stress and improve health.

But how did we become so stressed in the first place? And do we have the power to prevent stress overload?

Once again, the mind/body connection is an answer. Most of our stress and emotional suffering comes from our mind - the way we think and face a situation - and the thoughts that cause us stress are usually negative, unrealistic, and distorted.

Through a "cognitive/behavioral" approach, we help patients better recognize the self-defeating thoughts, negative statements, and irrational beliefs that undermine our mood, behavior, and health.

Once our individual negative thought patterns are identified and examined, an approach called "cognitive restructuring" helps us change the automatic way we think by finding positive, affirming approaches to life's ups and downs.
