| Over the past 15 years, the Mind/Body Program for Infertility has become an integral part of the treatment of infertility. Massachusetts reproductive endocrinologists have found that pairing the latest innovations in medical intervention with our unique program for the emotional aspects of infertility results in couples handling the treatment better and maximizing chances for conception.
 | Decrease physical symptoms related to infertility such as insomnia, fatigue, headache or abdominal pain |
 | Reduce high levels of depression, anger, social isolation, and anxiety |
 | Enhance chance of conception |
 | Reconnect with your partner |
The role that stress plays in depression is particularly important: Research shows that infertile women are twice as likely to experience symptoms of depression as fertile women.
Our mind/body approach is highly effective in reducing depression; our clinical data show significant reductions in distress, depression, and anxiety.
 | Elicitation of the relaxation response through techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing and mindfulness |
 | Examination and reversal of negative thought patterns |
 | Physical movement, including yoga for couples |
 | Information on the ways in which nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle behaviors impact fertility |
The program, led by a nurse practitioner with two visits from our yoga teacher, combines lecture, skills training, symptom monitoring, and group sharing to enable women to regain a sense of control and well-being, to "take their lives back."
We think you'll find the group format especially beneficial; many of our patients find an end to their isolation and stay connected to fellow group members after the program ends.
If you cannot attend our weekly program, we also offer individual therapy visits that are billed as mental health services, and weekend retreats, both of which can be accessed by individuals or couples.
