MIND BODY BASICS SERIES
Mind/Body Basics Series offered 10:00 am-12: 30pm on Fridays
Participants may sign up for either program but are encouraged to register for both, in sequence, if possible. If taking advantage of both programs within one year, only one initial assessment is required.

The MIND BODY BASICS SERIES can help you regain your sense of health and wellbeing. Each program in this series includes: an initial medical assessment, 6 weekly 2 1/2-hour group sessions and a discharge visit at completion. The program, led by Peg Baim, Director of Training at the Benson-Henry Institute combines lecture, skills training, symptom monitoring, and group sharing to equip patients to take an active role in managing their own health.

This program, over 6 weekly two-and-one-half hour sessions, will help you:
  • Understand how stress negatively affects physical and emotional health
  • Reduce physical symptoms
  • Accept and better cope with certain chronic conditions
  • Regain a sense of balance and well-being

The Relaxation Response: Learning to Reduce Your Medical Symptoms
  • Learn to deactivate stress through eliciting the relaxation response
  • Cultivate a variety of meditation practices
  • Develop a more serviceable relationship to life’s challenges to limit the ill effects of stress in your life
This program will help you to activate your own innate healing ability as your mind becomes quieter, clearer, and more focused.

Healing Attitudes: Mind/Body Training in Positive Psychology
  • Learn a variety of mind/body strategies that increase their awareness of stress-related habits of thought
  • Heal the negative emotions resulting from daily stress as well as the more deeply felt emotions of past difficulties
  • Build skill in developing positive attitudes and beliefs to heal stress-related medical issues
  • Become more resilient in facing life’s challenges through cultivation of greater strength, wisdom, and joy
This is an ideal refresher to previous BHI graduates and a complement to the RR Training in Meditation Program.
