Calm Mother, Happy Child Program
MIND BODY PROGRAM FOR MOTHERS
Perhaps parenting is not quite as you imagined. You find yourself so busy with caretaking that you've left no time for you. You're tired, cranky…and stressed. Perhaps you're even experiencing your own stress-related symptoms such as sleep problems, headache, or shortness of breath, to name a few. Or maybe balancing all you have to do requires an extraordinary effort.

The Mind Body Program for Mothers is a multi-week program that applies the Benson-Henry Institute's successful mind/body/spirit approach to the needs of mothers. We cover topics such as relaxation, positive thinking, exercise, and family relationships, and teach you practical, appropriate, easily-learned skills for managing stress and maximizing the joy of parenthood. In addition, you'll learn strategies for raising a calmer, more in-control child in today's distracting world.

Each weekly session includes experiential learning; tips and techniques expressly for you and for your child's well-being; a discussion period; and a guided meditation.

Benefits of the Program

  • Turn off the critical tape recording in your mind; record a new, realistic message

  • Share parenting experiences as part of a supportive group
  • Connect with your child more closely by living in the moment, otherwise known as "mindfulness"
  • Learn sleep hygiene tips to employ before problems arise
  • "Don't sweat the small stuff" when it comes to common health concerns
  • Gain strategies to employ discipline as instruction rather than punishment
  • Begin to instill hopefulness and self-confidence in your child
Much more than a support group, the Mind Body Program for Mothers is a therapeutic program that helps mothers acquire essential tools for achieving balance and navigating the challenges of parenting for a lifetime.

Mind Body Program for Mothers will be offered at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Yawkey building. The fee is $300 for this multi-week program and includes classes, a program manual, relaxation CD, and other materials.

Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
